Black and White Fine Art

“Fine art photography is the creation of images driven purely by the photographer’s personal artistic vision, ideas, message, or emotions, as opposed to documenting objective reality.” My primary goal is creative expression and aesthetic appeal, similar to traditional fine arts like painting or sculpture. Unlike photojournalism or documentary photography, which usually provides a literal, unbiased account of events, places or subjects, with black and white fine art photography I try to interpret the subject matter. A high priority is placed on composition, light, and texture to create a visually compelling image. My fine art photographs are created with the intention of being displayed in private collections or galleries. Ultimately, what makes a photograph “fine art” is a subjective assessment that often depends on critical reception and hopefully my ability to create a consistent, meaningful body of work.
